Alex’s Singing/Thanksgiving.

If there is one thing I love to watch in this world it is definately Alex singing and dancing. In the morning playhouse disney is on the tv with shows like JoJos Circus and The Wiggles. Those shows of course have cute songs and dances that apeal to a young child, and Alex is no different. The second the songs come on he is singing and dancing right along with them. The best part is that it is so refreshing to see him move and laugh and not be a couch potato even though it is the tv.

Just now JoJos Circus is on, and they just played a song that goes “Walking like an elephant this is how it goes” as JoJo crawls on the ground moving her arm like a trunk pretending to be an elephant. I look over and Alex is crawling, swinging his arm around and singing “walk elephant goes.” Then when the song ends he sits down and raises his arms in the air and goes “alright!” How much cuter can you get?

Of course I can’t always agree with everything Playhouse Disney teaches him. The Wiggles have a habit of always saying “1, 2, 3, wake up Jeff!” So now, Whenever I am laying down, eyes open or not, I hear “1, 2, 3, wake up mommy!” I always have the same response “1, 2, 3, go to sleep Alex!” I should note that Alex has yet to go to sleep. Of course, I have yet to wake up.

Demands for Thanksgiving
This is a chat log between myself and Amy (my sister-in-law)

GirlieGirl091983 (12:21:23 PM): i want turkey, mashed potatos, stuffing, greenbean casserole, sweet potatos, homemade bread, pumpkin pie
GirlieGirl091983 (12:22:43 PM): and as i told joe… ABSOLUTLEY NO HAM
tunaepyrgna (12:22:59 PM): Uh? Ok.. Well, I can promise that everything you listed is already on the list except I might use premade rolls instead of making homemade bread in order to get the food done as close to 2 as possible (since we do have Andy this year).
tunaepyrgna (12:23:19 PM): No, I only make Ham for easter.
GirlieGirl091983 (12:23:19 PM): oh ok, thats acceptable
GirlieGirl091983 (12:23:37 PM): and we need leftovers
GirlieGirl091983 (12:23:47 PM): i want to eat some the next day too
tunaepyrgna (12:24:05 PM): lol..ok well, I have one of your containers, but depending on how much you want I suggest you bring more to make it easier on me.
GirlieGirl091983 (12:24:22 PM): aren’t i demanding. of course i will bring containers
GirlieGirl091983 (12:25:12 PM): oh and some chili cheese fries as an appetizer or carmel popcorn whatever you want to make
GirlieGirl091983 (12:25:49 PM): i want to watch the football game on the big screen
tunaepyrgna (12:29:29 PM): lol..Yes, you are a bit demanding, but thats ok. Until you demand something that I can’t do or it is too much you won’t get yelled at. Oh, as far as the big screen, you will have to fight the kids for it..I’m going to be in the kitchen watching the parade/game.

If you are wondering, i have issues with Ham being served on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a day for Turkey, i look forward to eating Turkey every year. One year, as suggested by my brother, my step father made Ham. I was pissed. No one eats ham on Thanksgiving. Needless to say i voiced my opinion very strongly and Ham has never been served to me for Thanksgiving since.

This is a chat that my sister in law doesn’t know I had with my husband after the chat we had above:

tunaepyrgna: Robin is being demanding. Telling me what food I have to make, that she wants snacks like chili cheese fries and caramel popcorn for the game in which she wants to watch on the big screen. I told her everything she mentioned so far is on my list, except for homemade bread because in the interest of time I’m probably going to do premade rolls. As far as the big screen she needs to take that up with the kids.
CryptoJoe2600: heh
CryptoJoe2600: yeah
CryptoJoe2600: :-)
CryptoJoe2600: mmmm bread
tunaepyrgna: Oh, and I’m not allowed under any circumstances to make ham. lol..I’m not making ham, but still..talk about demanding. You would think it would be my home and I would be allowed to decide what I want to make. You know what? Lets get a ham anyway just to piss her off.
CryptoJoe2600: LOL

Of course, I am joking. I am not really planning on making ham for Thanksgiving. Although I do believe there is nothing wrong with ham for Thanksgiving, I think it is something to go along side a turkey but not to replace a turkey. Since everyone has seen my recipe for turkey and ham they realize it would take way too much time to make both. I’m on a time crunch this year because we have Andy and he deserves to eat too, so I will not be making both. Rest easy Robin, turkey will be served.

I surfed across your blog and enjoyed relating to your stories…I am doing Thanksgiving this year, but my mom is coming over to cook. This takes much of the pressure off. Now I just have to manage to have my house clean…and we don’t watch TV so they’re out of luck for the game :).

There’s nothing wrong with ham for Thanksgiving and it is very common at dinners I have been to because a guy I used to date had a brother allergic to turkey so we all ate ham and it was great!!!
