A turkey announcement.
This Thanksgiving when you are preparing your turkeys, please check them for feathers and “feather stubs.” Otherwise you might end up embarrassed when a guest pulls one out of their teeth.
Fortunately for me when I cleaned my bird this morning in preparing it for the brine, I remembered to look for feathers. Normally I don’t find any (or at least I don’t remember finding any, but is has been two years since I last hosted Thanksgiving), but this year I found 2 whole feathers and at least 5 feather stubs. Now I’m wondering, has Butterball just gone down hill or did I get a “bad bird?” I suppose it doesn’t really matter either way, the point is my bird has feathers. I’m going to do another check when I clean the bird again tomorrow morning.
