10 reasons why I refuse to take down my Christmas tree.
1. It’s fake, so it isn’t like it is dying/dead and needs to be taken down right now. Right?
2. It hasn’t even so much as snowed yet around here. And I want a white Christmas, darn it! Maybe if I leave it up till it snows, I could convince my family to have Christmas all over again. How awesome of an idea is that?
3. Maybe if I change the decorations on the tree then it could stay up all year. Yeah, that sounds good. In February I could put up hearts and pink, white, and red streamers all over it. Oh, in July I could put up independence day decorations. Or better yet, Christmas decorations for Christmas in July! And we can’t forget about the August “beach tree” with fish, buckets & shovels, and blue streamers.
4. The kids love it, especially when the lights are on. If the lights are off they are sad. SAD, people. If that upsets them, then it stands to reason that if I took it down it would be torture. It might even SCAR THEM FOR LIFE.
5. Joe’s birthday is January 15. He would LOVE a Christmas themed birthday party, right?
6. I got a late start on Christmas decorating this year and didn’t put it up till mid December. And everyone knows that it is a law that all Christmas trees must be up for a minimum of a month. You wouldn’t want me breaking a law, now would you?
7. The rule that what goes up must come down only applies to gravity. And last time I checked, the tree isn’t jumping so gravity isn’t forcing it down.
8. What if a meteor hits the Earth and causes it to spin really fast which makes time go by faster? I could wake up tomorrow and it would be December. I need to be prepared for such events.
9. There is a telescope next to the tree that my husband put there and thus making it physically impossible to put the tree away.
10. There is a light on the tree that won’t light on one side and Santa needs to come and take it back to his workshop, my dear, so that he may fix it up there and bring it back here before it can be put away.

I could have written this post myself.
My Christmas tree is still up (it’s also fake.) My garland is still hung all over our home- as are red bows and strategically placed cinnamon scented candles and jingle bells. It is all supposed to come down tomorrow.
Frankly, I think a Valentine’s tree is a fantastic idea. A memorial day tree sounds great too. And really, it wouldn’t take that much work to turn your memorial day tree into your July 4th tree.
