About
Hi. (Man that sounds lame.) I’m Amy, a 27 year old who lives in Frederick, MD. I’m a wife, stay-at-home mother to 3, stepmother to 1, elementary education major, tiger den leader and pack website coordinator. As you can probably tell, I have no idea what the word busy means. My husband is Joe, and my kids are Andrew (13), Alex (6), Aidan (3) & Zoe (2).
I spend my days going totally insane. From grocery shopping, to the never-ending doctor/dentist/eye appointments, taking the kids to cub scouts & gymnastics, planning & running den meetings, doing school work, cleaning & cooking, etc. one has to wonder how I don’t drop on the floor of exhaustion. (Actually, I do that sometimes. It’s quite nice to lay on the floor and be very very still and very very quiet. But, shh. That’s our little secret, ok?)
Would you believe I also have hobbies? I like to scrapbook, but unfortunately time for that is pretty much nil. I’m working on finding the time again! I also like to read on the awesome-est reading device ever, the kindle. And finally I’m into the video game scene. Ok, maybe not the whole scene exactly, but I do enjoy playing on my nintendo ds and wii.
I’ve been doing the online diary/blogging thing since 1996. Unfortunately you will just have to take my word for it as all the archives from my very first angelfire site to the early years of modernprincess.com (which began in 1999 and “ended” in 2002) are long gone. Right now the archives only go back to October 2003 when as a birthday gift from my husband, I reopened this site. Admittedly, I don’t think I post as much as my husband would like me too. Still, I won’t be giving up modernprincess.com anytime soon. Ok, more like never.
The site itself has always been and will always be about me. You probably won’t find a post about politics or music, because I’m just not big on talking about those things. What you will find are posts about my kids, how I celebrate the holidays, discussion of school and what goes on in the classroom, the occasional recipe, articles about some of my opinions, and in general my day to day life. Which may not sound all that exciting, but I try and write about it all with a sense of humor. Oh, and I can be a real flake sometimes.
