Lets face it, I haven’t been posting, so here is a recap of the goings ons:

I had my midterm tonight. I think I did ok. I had a lot of trouble on 3 of the short answer questions about how schema is physically formed in the brain via neurons and the physical difference (in the brain) between dyslexic people and fluent readers, but outside of that it was pretty easy.

Ebay auctions did well, which is great because I bought myself a pretty pink toy. A nintendo ds. I’m totally loving it. It’s my new baby. And I’m serious when I say mine. I yell at the kids if they touch it, especially since they have their own game boy..well, sort of. I play it so much that I’m almost done zelda. I’ve got a few more side quests to beat (if I want, don’t have to), and basically the last half of the main boss fight and thats it. I also bought some other games/apps for it like brain age 2, professor layton and the curious village, and the oh-so nifty ds browser. Oh yeah, and I pre-ordered civilization revolution. Man, I’m a gaming geek. I think its one of the reasons Joe married me. Though I bet he wishes I didn’t play games quite as much as I do sometimes.

My period was 2 weeks late. And I don’t care what people say about how effective permanent birth control is, when your that late you think “Oh my god, I might be pregnant.” But I’m not. So, it’s all good. But, I got it at the worst possible time too. When my family and I were camping. At 2:30am as I was sleeping in the tent no less. Totally sucked, believe me. I’m just thankful I brought supplies “just in case.”

Speaking of camping, the reason we were camping last weekend was because Joe had his annual ham radio field day. Basically a bunch of hams go out into a field and try and contact as many of each other as they can in a 24 hour period to earn points because it is a contest. Apparently, its pretty exciting for them, but after years of this, I still don’t get it. Anyway, I’m pretty insistent on it being a family activity (whether Joe likes it or not), because lets face it kids love camping, and it is a field where they can run around like crazy and be far far away from the tv. Whats cool now though is that the family activity seems to be spreading, as this year another wife who doesn’t care about ham radio and her 3 kids we there camping too. So, all the kids had a lot of fun playing with each other and each others toys, and thats whats important (to me, at least). They were so worn out by the end of it, especially Zoe, as she slept until 11am the morning after we got home.

Back to the the kids have a sort of game boy…lets just say that the game boy went missing over the weekend. According to two adults, it may have been taken by a couple of kids who rode their bikes up to where we all were. Ah well, these things happen I guess. In a way I kind of blame myself, after all I did pack the game boy and I did know that Aidan was wandering around with it, and when I noticed that he didn’t have it anymore I didn’t think to go look for it right away. I just assumed it was safe, because I assume everybody is trustworthy. Given my history, especially with a certain sperm donor, you would think I would be more jaded, but tis not the case. It is just in my nature to be trusting I guess. Anyway, I bought the kids a cheap used one off of ebay. Should get here soon.

I’m probably the last person on earth to pop on over to the gmail bandwagon. In my defense though, I’m a person who doesn’t do change. I just prefer to stick with what works, and my outlook did that for a time. Then, I started school. And with school, came another email address. Which under normal circumstances I would ignore it and never use it, but the college has this rule that teachers and students can only email each other from their school accounts. To make things even more difficult, the college didn’t allow pop access. For reasons I don’t understand, the college seems to want to make me use their webmail interface. And to be blunt, this webmail happens to be the worst set up I have ever used. The only somewhat redeeming quality was that it did allow all mail to be forwarded to another email address. But when I did this, I ran into a flaw outlook, the program I’ve always used, has. You can’t send email out with a particular address unless you have it set up in a pop account. I tried creating rules and what not, but nothing was working for me. And since I needed to both receive and send from my school address, this meant having to login to the college website every time I wanted to send my instructor a paper or ask a question or whatever.

Enter gmail.

With gmail, you can send email out with any address you want in the from field, as long as you can prove that you own it. And google makes that simple, just click on a link in an email they send out to the address you want to use. Oh, and no matter what the from field says, they still put gmail as the sender (which usually isn’t displayed) so the email shouldn’t get picked up by the spam filters. In the end all I had to do was set my college email up to forward all mail to the gmail account, and set up gmail to allow me to send mail as my school address. Presto! Thwarted the colleges attempt to make me waste valuable time checking yet another email account and keep me locked into their horrible web interface.

Another day, another embarrassing moment.

Today is Alex’s big field trip to the zoo. I spent the entire morning getting him ready, which meant doing everything I normally do such as pack lunch, pick out clothes, remind him of a thousand things like to brush his teeth. Then I also get to go above and beyond. Put sunscreen and bug repellent on him, make sure he has a hat to wear just in case, pack extras in his lunch like water and snacks. Fun stuff.

So he got on the bus, and then I started doing the dishes, and then changed Zoe. It was at this point that I realized I hadn’t seen Alex wearing his glasses. (Side note: I hadn’t talked about Alex and his glasses yet, but the long and short of it was that he has lazy eye. More information to come in July when he finally sees a specialist.) So, I run upstairs and look at his dresser, where he keeps his glasses before he goes to bed, and sure enough they are there. I check the time 8:50am. I have to rush if I hope to make it to his school before he leaves for the trip at 9am. I grab my purse, keys, and flip flops. There isn’t any time to make myself decent, or the kids for that matter, so I rush all of us out the door. Picture this. Aidan desperately needs a diaper change as it is sagging, is in an undershirt, blues clues pajama bottoms, and no shoes. Zoe looked the best out of all of us because I just changed her. She was wearing a little green day dress, but no diaper cover and no shoes. Then there was me. No shower, no teeth brushed, no deodorant, no perfume, no fixing hair, no make up (oh wait, I never wear make up…). I’m wearing an undershirt, jeans, and flip flops. Did I mention that my undershirt was kind of see through? Yeah.

So, I get to the school in time, but there isn’t anywhere to park in the lot, so I have to park on the street causing all of us to walk the long haul to the schools main office just so I could get a visitor sticker. To keep us going a bit faster, I switch between holding Zoe and holding Aidan (making sure that they are covering my boobs!) While in the school I’m mostly holding Aidan and constantly calling Zoe to follow me who is being distracted by all the other students in their cute field trip shirts and all the parent chaperones calling her cute and all the teachers who are also calling her cute. The reason I was holding Aidan? Because his diaper was now down to his pants and he couldn’t really walk. Oh, and he gave me the most coverage. Finally I make it down to the end of the hallway, where Alex’s classroom is, hand him his glasses, and get the hell outta there. Which again wasn’t as quick as I would like, because Zoe is oh-so-cute and everyone has to tell her so. After another long while though we finally made it back to the car. And went home. And I changed Aidan whose diaper had fallen completely off on the ride home. Thank god he didn’t pee on me.

I wonder how many people saw my boobs today? Yikes.

Grades are in.

Another semester ends, another 4.0. Yeah, we all saw that one coming. At this point I’ve been getting nothing but A’s for so long that I’d probably cry if I got a B.
